In 1941, Derek Prince was stationed as a British Army medic in a barrack room in Scarborough, England. A confirmed agnostic trained at Eton and Cambridge, he had brought with him a Bible as a philosophical text. One night, alone in the room, while reading through the New Testament as an academic exercise, he encountered what he later described as a personal, undeniable visitation. He did not seek it. He was not at a church service or a revival meeting. He simply found himself prostrate on the floor, weeping, with a certainty he could not explain rationally, that the Jesus of the New Testament was real and present. He rose from that encounter a converted man. He said for the rest of his life that no argument had persuaded him. Something had simply happened.
